ゴールデンウィークはいかがお過ごしですか？明日はこどもの日ですね。この日本独自の休日について英語で説明してみましょう。
 
 

“Children’s Day is a national holiday in Japan when people we celebrate children’s happiness, their health and growth.”
「こどもの日は、こどもの幸せと、健康、そして健康を祝う日本の国民の祝日です。」
 
”The day was originally called “Tango no Sekku”, or Boy’s Festival, was celebrated in order to wish the healthy growth of the boys in the family.”
「その日はもともと『端午の節句』と呼ばれ、男の子の健やかな成長を願って祝う日でした。」
 
“Boy’s parents display “Koinobori / carp streamers” or “Kabuto / ornamental helmet” hoping that children will grow up with courage and wisdom.

解説：
鯉のぼりのように、何か意味があるのもを説明する時は、○○ has the meaning of 名詞/動名詞〜を使うといいでしょう。また、群れを成して移動する動物であるcarpは、fishやsheepと一緒で複数形にならないことも一緒に覚えておきましょう。
